“DKANDLE weaves swirling multi-colored vibrant unearthly soundscapes, blending fuzzy and reverberating Shoegaze textures, mesmerizing Dream Pop meditations, sludgy Grungey tones and moody Post-punk strains, heightened with soul-stirring lyricism and pensive emotive vocalizations”

Amsterdam does have drugs, of course, as it does in any place where people gather. Drugs are a reality and part of the experience of contemporary life.

But it's worth bearing in mind that, if it's more evident here in Amsterdam, it's because the Dutch have an open mentality based on Calvinist principles. Dutch children learn from an early age to discern what is "right" and what is "wrong", not through boring moralism, but because they learn to live with reality from an early age. Everyone learns about individual responsibility and citizenship, taking responsibility for what they do and facing up to society's vices and problems with the greatest naturalness in the world, no longer being the paternalistic society we know so well, based on over-protection, the castration of its individuals and fear of Heavenly Father. No one hides anything from anyone, hypocrisy and false morals are left outside. This doesn't mean that everything turns into excessive libertinism, on the contrary, the Dutchman's madness is tranquil. There's a saying here: "Be discreet, because that's crazy enough". In order to be this sophisticated, the foundation of this open-minded nation lies in the cradle education and the social structure put in place.

Incredible as it may seem, this composure derives from the most counter-cultural and rowdy civilization of all time: the pirates of the seven seas! Mercantilists from the start, they had in their blood the need and curiosity to travel and get to know the culture of distant peoples.

Today, Amsterdam, with 700,000 inhabitants, still retains its pirate flag, but is considered a "cybercity" and is ready to enter the third millennium with the title of exemplary city of the European community.

AMSTERDAM SURVIVAL MANUAL

When it comes to buying grass, my recommendation is: act natural when you go into a coffee shop. Choose one that's less touristy and less freaky (no more Bob Marleys!), puff out your chest, hold your head high... And go straight to the guy at the counter and ask for the menu. Don't be suspicious, he'll weigh it in front of you and the price is fixed. If you're in doubt about what you've chosen, simply try them all. Don't get carried away by buying 15 grams at a time, one gram is fine to start with. Remember, you're allowed to pop one inside.

I still recommend you try Nepalese hashish, as Moroccan hashish is an average commodity and can be found all over the place.

Make no mistake, the policy on soft drugs is as follows: it is not legalized, but its sale is controlled by the government. This means that coffee shops and smart drug stores are the only places where it is allowed to be sold. The owner has to declare how much he has and pay taxes, under penalty of forfeiture of bail. As long as the merchandise has not entered the Coffee Shop, it is considered illegal and contraband. Grass and most mushrooms are grown right here in Holland and Germany. Hashish and heroin come from abroad.

Come here with an open mind, absorb the culture of this country. Learn to live with all kinds of people without criticism, live and let live. Go to the park, stores, museums, cultural events, festivals, raves... Amsterdam has something for everyone!

If you want, you can even bring your mom along for the ride. While you're dazing in the coffee shops, she can be distracted by the various cultural programs or going shopping. But don't mix things up and don't do like me, who loved to expand the old lady's neurons by force and took her for a walk in the Red Light District... She was quite taken aback by what she saw!

Since those days, this rough-hewn neighborhood has been the place where pirates came to settle their beef. Today, centuries later, the Red Light District's activity remains the same, with the exception that its "social workers" now have a government support structure, with mandatory tests and periodic examinations, since it is a very strong tourist spot and the sex industry, or porn tourism, generates millions and contributes heavily to the country's income.

Between the heroin junkies, the drug dealers and the police, there is the stunned mass of tourists who observe the "girls" in the shop windows, showing off their "stuff" and looking at the people with the utmost naturalness that would make any young boy shy away.

For all these reasons, the phrase that best defines this city is simply: Amsterdam is an open-minded city!

HERO-ZERO

For those of you who think that this kind of experience is a piece of cake, beware: it's a tough one and it's really harmful. The risk of becoming addicted is violent! You need to have a deep understanding of yourself in order to assess your ability to quit and avoid addiction.

It's because of films like Tarantino's Pulp Fiction that this drug has created a cult following, seducing many unsuspecting young people. If you don't control it properly, you're opening a DOOR TO HELL!

I recommend you take a look at the undead that circulate around here and see what kind of transformation takes place with the heroin junkie. IT'S AMAZING!

Heroin in the Netherlands is treated as a national shame and is considered the number one problem. It's a very controversial subject globally and here in Holland there is a policy of "turning a blind eye", since drug trafficking also brings in foreign currency for the country. The Dutch are very sensitive about this subject. The glamor of this drug is purely misinformation. Don't be silly, there are a thousand and one other things to enjoy in Amsterdam.
